INS Surat, the last in the Project 15B series, is a state-of-the-art stealth guided missile destroyer. With a displacement of 7,400 tons and a length of 164 meters, INS Surat features a stealth design, advanced radar systems, surface-to-surface, and surface-to-air missiles, making it a formidable asset for the Indian Navy.
INS Nilgiri: The Blue-Water Operation King
INS Nilgiri, part of the Project 17A, is the first stealth frigate of its kind, launched on September 28, 2019. Known for its advanced technology, it plays a pivotal role in maritime security. It boasts a displacement of 6,670 tons and a length of 149 meters. Its reduced radar signature, supersonic missiles, and integrated platform management system (IPMS) ensure it is ready for a wide range of naval operations.
INS Vagir: The Advanced Scorpene-Class Submarine
INS Vagir, the sixth and final submarine under Project 75, is a Scorpene-class diesel-electric submarine designed for secret operations. With its modular construction and advanced air-independent propulsion (AIP) system, it ensures superior stealth and endurance capabilities. Launched for service with the Indian Navy, this 67-meter-long, 1,550-ton submarine is a testament to India's self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
Women in the Navy: A Step Towards Inclusion
INS Surat and INS Nilgiri come with special residential facilities for female officers and sailors, promoting gender inclusion and greater participation of women in the navy. This move signifies a progressive step toward a more inclusive naval force.
