This month, American technology giant Google introduced its latest offering, the Pixel 9 series. Featuring the new Tensor G4 processor and the Titan M2 security chip, this series has generated significant interest among smartphone enthusiasts. However, some customers who purchased these devices have reported issues with wireless charging, particularly with the Pixel 9 Pro XL model.
Numerous users have claimed that their smartphones stop charging after just a few minutes when using various chargers, including Google's own wireless charger. Reports have surfaced on platforms such as Reddit, where users are sharing their experiences and expressing frustration with this charging problem. One Reddit user reported that they had notified Google's support team about the issue, suggesting that the company is working toward a resolution.
Affected customers on Google’s support forums, Reddit, and other platforms have noted that their devices cease to charge wirelessly after a short period. Some users have specifically indicated that when attempting to charge using Qi2 compatible MagSafe chargers or the Mous MagSafe case, their devices display messages indicating "odd behavior."
In response to these charging issues, one Pixel 9 user compiled a list of wireless chargers that have been problematic. This user mentioned difficulties even with Google’s own Pixel Stand wireless charger. This raises concerns that the problem may not stem from the magnetic cases or chargers being used, but rather from the devices themselves. Notably, most of the customers reporting issues appear to be using the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
As of now, Google has not provided any official response regarding these claims on the forums, leaving users in a state of uncertainty.
In other news, Google has announced that it will commence manufacturing the Pixel 8a smartphone in the country. Launched in May this year, the Pixel 8a replaces the previous Pixel 7a model and is expected to make a mark in the Indian market. The company has also begun the manufacturing of the Pixel 8, although the timeline for Pixel 8a’s production has yet to be disclosed. The Pixel 8a will be available in four colors, with the 128 GB storage variant priced at ?49,999 and the 256 GB version at ?56,999.
As Google continues to innovate with its smartphone lineup, it remains to be seen how the company addresses the charging concerns raised by Pixel 9 users, and whether it can maintain the trust and satisfaction of its customer base amid these technical challenges.
