Google has recently announced a significant expansion of its Gemini service, making it available in India and four additional countries: Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Turkey. This move by the tech giant highlights its commitment to bringing its advanced AI-powered chatbot technology to a broader global audience.

The Gemini chatbot, which is primarily used for crafting messages or brainstorming ideas, is now accessible on a wider range of devices, no longer limited to select Pixel or Samsung Galaxy smartphones. According to Google's support page, any phone with 6 GB or more of RAM can now utilize the Gemini app.

Notably, the Gemini chatbot is currently available in French in Canada and English in select countries, but not a single EU country has access to it yet. However, Google has promised to release the platform to users in more languages and regions in the future.

Regarding the expansion into India, Google expressed particular excitement, citing the country's strong "mobile-first culture." The Gemini chatbot now supports English and nine Indian languages: Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Alongside the expansion of the Gemini app, Google has also announced the availability of Gemini Advanced, a more powerful version of the chatbot. Powered by the 1.5 Pro model, Gemini Advanced boasts a massive 1-million token context window, allowing it to process and understand vast amounts of information, from lengthy documents and emails to extensive codebases.

The new features of Gemini Advanced include:

1. Document Uploads: Users can now upload multiple large documents, up to 1,500 pages in total, or even summarize 100 emails. Gemini Advanced can then provide quick summaries, personalized feedback, and actionable insights, saving time and boosting productivity.

2. Data Analysis: Gemini Advanced can now tackle complex data analysis tasks by processing spreadsheets (Google Sheets, CSVs, Excel). It can clean, explore, analyze, and visualize the data, transforming it into interactive charts and graphs.

Google emphasizes that privacy remains a top priority, with users' files kept private and not used to train the company's models.

The introduction of Gemini in Google Messages is another noteworthy development, providing users with another avenue to collaborate with the chatbot on their smartphones, without leaving the Messages app.

As Google continues to expand the reach and capabilities of Gemini, it is evident that the company is committed to empowering users across the globe with its advanced AI-driven technology. With the addition of India and several other countries to the Gemini ecosystem, more individuals and businesses will have the opportunity to unlock new levels of creativity, productivity, and data-driven insights.
